Product Description:
What is it for and how does it work?
Our product consists of supermarket shelf labels featuring Braille and integrated NFC technology. The goal is to foster greater independence for the blind community in local retail and provide accessible, useful information to people with dietary restrictions or specific dietary needs. Using an app, customers can scan the NFC tag to access detailed product information. Based on filters the customer sets up in the app beforehand, only the selected information is displayed upon scanning. For instance, a blind person might choose to hear only the product name, price, and quantity—played via their phone's text-to-speech function—while a person with celiac disease might choose to see only whether the product contains gluten. Retailers can also use the app to edit basic product details, such as the price, whenever changes occur.
Our Product

How is it made and what is it made of?
The label itself is made from a composite material created by incorporating ground leather into a polymer matrix (SBR), manufactured through a process combining injection molding and vulcanization. A vibrant red dye is added to the material to make the label easier to locate for the visually impaired.
What is NFC and how does it work in our product?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology commonly used for contactless payments. Since NFC tags have limited memory, the chips embedded in our product will store only a unique link. When a user taps their phone against the tag, the link is read, triggering an instant lookup in an external server-hosted database; the system then retrieves and displays the specific product information filtered by the customer.
